The Kerry Badminton Association's November Handicap, held recently, was a resounding success, with over 100 entries from players aged 14 to over 65 from various clubs across Kerry. This inaugural competition marked the beginning of the season, and it was fantastic to see the Kerry badminton community come together for a fun-filled day of competition and socializing.
One of the highlights of the event was the pairing of competitors from different clubs, which added a new dimension to the games and provided an opportunity for new members to meet and play with players from around Kerry. The competition began with ladies' and men's round robins, followed by men's and ladies' finals, and culminated in a men's and ladies' mixed doubles final.
Players of all levels enjoyed the competitive and fun matches, with many praising the organization and atmosphere of the event. The winners of the events were:
Division 4: Mike Reardon (Kingdom) & Fang Cooper (Tralee) beat Kayla - Eve Galvin (Listowel) & Pan Mun Li (Tralee)
Division 5: Padraig Moriarty (Annascaul) & Sharon Murphy (Killarney) and beat Mary Flahive (Annascaul) and Blazej Turostowski (Tralee)
A huge thank you to the Killarney Club for providing court helpers, and to Peggy Horan, Suzanne Smith, & Jennifer Nash for running the desk and ensuring everything ran smoothly. Thanks also to Tom Bradley for the lovely photos!
The Kerry Badminton Association looks forward to seeing everyone back at the next competition, the Paddy Drummond Mixed, on November 30th. Entries will be open soon, and members will be notified via the KBA club zap app. If you haven't downloaded the app yet, please click the link below to stay up-to-date with the latest news and competition information.
